Rediscover project

Rediscover project is an art project launched in 2024 to find new value in traditional craft waste and ceramic shards from the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Led by Junichi Okuyama, the collective includes designer Kaori Okuyama and Wajima lacquerware artist Hidenobu Keizuka.Using assemblage techniques, they combine fragments of Kutani and Wajima ware with traditional Japanese hand-matted paper and the “urushi” lacquer-repair method. This process reawakens the deep latent memories embedded within the discarded materials.By pushing the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship and transforming the act of restoration into a creative narrative, Rediscover project explores fresh possibilities within contemporary art, offering a profound statement on resilience and reinterpretation.
