ARTIST INFORMATION
Akira Inaba is a sculptor born in Tokyo in 1980, completing his master’s degree in Sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University in 2007.He is best known for his clothed, half-body female figures. While working with wood, Inaba uniquely captures human interiors through organic and plump textures—described as melting, swelling, or bubbling. By contrasting the structured exterior of clothing with these oozing, visceral body expressions, his work explores the distance in human relationships and hidden emotions.Through this intricate carving process, Inaba profoundly examines the duality and emotional fluctuations inherent in contemporary human nature.
