ARTIST INFORMATION
藤井湧泉は、中国出身の水墨画家。元々の中国画における対象をできるだけ濃密に描き余白を埋めようとする「足し算の美意識」と京都で学んだ琳派などの日本画における対象を簡素化し画面に余白をとろうとする「引き算の美意識」、相対する表現の限界調和を目指す。
Yusen Fujii is an ink painter from China. He aims to harmonize the limits of two different styles of expression: the “addition aesthetic” of his original Chinese paintings, in which subject is depicted as densely as possible and tries to fill in the blank spaces, and the “subtraction aesthetic” of the Japanese paintings he studied in Kyoto, such as the Rimpa school, in which the subject is simplified and the blank-leaving aesthetic is embraced.
