西が作品を作る上で大切にしているのが、轆轤挽きによる回転体の力を利用したフォルム作りである。器の内と外を直接自らの手で触れ生まれるフォルムは、他のどの工芸技法と比べても、柔らかさと緊張感を兼ねたものを生み出すことができる。
Nishi places great importance on the use of wheel-thrown forms, which utilize the power of the rotating body. The forms created by directly touching the inside and outside of the vessel with his hands produce a combination of softness and tension that is unmatched by any other crafting technique.
