ARTIST INFORMATION

有職彩色絵師。1966年京都生まれ。重要無形文化財「桐塑人形」保持者(人間国宝)である林駒夫の長女。1984年京都市立銅駝美術工芸高等学校日本画科卒業。1986年京都芸術短期大学日本画コース修了。父・林駒夫に師事し、貝桶・貝覆・檜扇などの有職工芸の意匠や、有職大和絵による板絵作品を制作。2018年「ブルガリ アウローラ アワード2018」受賞。

Yūsoku decorative painter. Born in Kyoto in 1966, she is the eldest daughter of Hayashi Komao, a Living National Treasure and holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property designation for “Kirisō Doll-making.” She graduated from the Japanese Painting Department of Kyoto City Dohda Senior High School of Art and Craft in 1984, and completed the Japanese Painting Course at Kyoto Junior College of Art in 1986.
She studied under her father, Komao Hayashi, and creates works based on traditional yūsoku designs, including kaiōke (shell boxes), kaiawase (shell-matching sets), and hinōgiōgi (cypress folding fans), as well as panel paintings in the yūsoku Yamato-e tradition.
In 2018, she received The Bvlgari Avrora Award 2018.
