Honami Konishi is a sculptor born in Hyogo in 1996, completing her master’s degree in Sculpture at Musashino Art University in 2023.Konishi captures fleeting moments from the continuous flow of time and transfers them into physical matter. This concept is explored in her “24 hours” series, where she transforms ordinary people glimpsed in daily life into wood sculptures within a strict 24-hour limit, as well as her “Traces” series, which visualizes the silent trajectories of passing moments. Her work utilizes the subtle fluctuations caused by discrepancies between the wood grain’s outlines and the silhouettes created by shadows to question the ambiguity of perception.By juxtaposing organic wood with inorganic scaffolding pipes, Konishi vividly delineates the boundaries between primal vitality and modern social systems.
