Ten Selected Works of Grandmasters in Showa Era

You can say Showa era was a in the period of transition in Japanese pottery.
After Meiji period, traditional pottery by artisans, Yakimono in Japanese, was catastrophic to be died out while rapid mechanization and industrialization were progressing even among creative fields. In that time period, talented potters who had strong artistic identity, studied old potteries of Momoyama era, Song Dynasty in China and Josen Dynasty in Korea, aiming to bring back obsolete techniques. Led by those grandmasters, potters of the next generation built up their creativity based on the heritage.

We are delighted to exhibit works of ten representative grandmasters in Showa era, that bring up and highlight the powers of Yakimono, passed down from the old era to the latest.

Gallery concept

We will continue to persuade the real beauty and introduce the superior art pieces of modern and current potteries, selected by our severe eyes. At the same time, we will make the best effort to go forward on proper and expected way of an art dealer, communicating with and encouraging current potters for better artworks.
