「DOH-GU」
日本語における「道具」は一般にはレンチやドライバー、あるいは包丁、おたまなどの道工具を指しますが、美術業界では骨董や美術品全般を意味する言葉でもあります。本展では、この言葉の“ずれ”を手がかりに、古美術、現代美術、道工具を一堂に展示・販売します。美術商が語る「良い道具」と職人が愛用する「良い道具」を並べることで、鑑賞品と実用品の境界をゆるやかに問い直し、モノを見る新たな視点を提案します。

About exhibited works
In Japanese, the word DOH-GU (“tools”) can refer not only to implements such as wrenches, knives, and ladles, but also, in the art world, to antiques and works of art. Taking this ambiguity as its starting point, the exhibition brings together antique art, contemporary art, and everyday tools. By placing side by side the “good tools” prized by art dealers and those cherished by craftspeople, it invites viewers to reconsider the boundary between objects of contemplation and objects of use, and to discover new ways of seeing the things around us.
