コンセプト
口縁と内側に白化粧し、それ以外の全体には黒（鉄）絵具を塗り、乾燥後に掻き取って文様を描く「掻き落とし」の技法を用いて壺全面に文章を彫っている。彫り込まれたのは中国宋代の周敦頤の書「太極図説」。いわゆる陰陽五行説に基づいて万物の生成発展の過程を説明している。師を持たず、古陶磁から陶芸を学ばれた石黒宗麿先生。中国磁州窯系の技法を応用し、こうした独自の作品をつくり出していた。箱書から昭和11（1936）年八瀬初窯の作品と分かる。類例が非常に少なく、その点からも重要な作品である。

日本工芸会の理事に就任

Munemaro glazed the lid and the inside with white liquid clay, and covered the body with iron glaze. He scraped the clay surface off to engrave letters, which technique is called Kakiotoshi. The text is from the so-called Taikyoku-zusetsu, an explanatory illustration in Song Dynasty, explicating how the universe originated and developed, based on the ying-yang of Chinese Philosophy. Munemaro was a self-educated potter inspired by ancient ceramics. He created his original artworks applying techniques of China Cizhou Kiln type. We can identify the item was made at Yase kiln, Kyoto, in 1936 by the box. It is one of the rare items of the first firing of the kiln, thus makes it important.

1893 Born in Toyama 1917 Started to be interested in Pottery, especially Raku. 1925 Moved to Kanazawa, and make Iga-like pottery, 1927 Moved to Kyoto, and tried to elucidate and restore the technique of Chinese and Korean pottery. 1937 Won the silver prize at the Paris Expo. 1940 Toured around China and Korea, and succeeded in creating Japan's first "Konoha-Tenmoku". 1955 Selected as a Living National Treasure for his Iron Glaze works. 1956 Became an honorary citizen of Shinminato City in Toyama.
