工芸の作品を制作する作家は卓越した伝統の技を駆使する事で工芸作品を生み出しますが、その技が伝統的な技である故に、作品も伝統的な「かたち」に捕らわれがちです。
工芸の技を駆使して現代アートを制作する為には、技の持つ意味（美）の現代への再解釈が必要です。
作家の独自の工芸への解釈と工芸品に関わる新たな視点の美意識で、現代アートとしての工芸品が創り出された時初めて、伝統美は現代アートの美術品として、アップデイトされます。
ギャラリーコンセプト
兵庫県芦屋で1999年に企画画廊として開廊。芸術性の高いアート作品を届け、芸術ある生活空間を提案。2016年7月より京都に移転。日本というアイデンティティーを最大限に感じる事のできる環境で現代アートを中心に、専属インテリアプランナーを有し、常にアートと生活空間との調和を考慮したアートコーディネートを主眼に個人住宅のみならずパブリックスペースまで手掛け、国際的に活動。また、総合的キュレーションのできる画廊として公共施設等での展覧会の企画制作も行う

About exhibited works
Artists who create craft works create craft works by making full use of outstanding traditional techniques, but because the techniques are traditional techniques, the works tend to be caught in traditional ""forms"".
In order to create contemporary art by making full use of craftsmanship, it is necessary to reinterpret the meaning (beauty) of craftsmanship for the present age.
Gallery concept
Under the direction of Shoko Kitagawa and since its inception in 1999, ASHIYAGARO kyoto has been actively promoting works of contemporary art.
We present contemporary artists, both in Japan and from abroad, whose identity and originality mark our epoch.
We have a professional interior planner with a focus on contemporary art in an environment where you can feel the identity of Japan to the fullest, and is active internationally not only in private residences but also in public spaces, with a focus on art coordination that always considers the harmony between art and living spaces. In addition, as an art gallery capable of comprehensive curation, we also plan and produce exhibitions at public facilities.
