I create works using metal casting techniques, with “everyday life” as my theme. One of my motifs is the surface of water, expressed in metal.
The act of melting and pouring metal has meaning in which thoughts and prayers are infused into it. I believe that the ripples and the patterns of waves can be preserved in form and shine through the power of metal, and I imbue the word “minamo” (water surface) with the sentiment of the preciousness of things that “remain unchanged.” I would be happy if my works make people reflect, even just a little, on the everyday things they often take for granted.
