ARTIST INFORMATION
1994年北京生まれ。2024年京都市立芸術大学大学院美術研究科にて博士（美術）を取得。漆と皮革を用いた立体作品を制作している。伝統的な漆皮技法を基盤としながら、生命感や内在するエネルギーを宿した造形を探求し、漆の新たな表現の可能性を模索している。作品はヴィクトリア・アンド・アルバート博物館に収蔵され、2026年ロエベ財団クラフトプライズファイナリストに選出された。
Born in Beijing in 1994, WEI Nan received a PhD in Fine Arts from Kyoto City University of Arts. She creates sculptural works using lacquer and leather, rooted in the traditional Japanese shippi (lacquered leather) technique. Combining the flexibility of leather with the hardening properties of lacquer, she explores forms that embody vitality and inner energy while seeking new possibilities for contemporary expression through lacquer. Her works are held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, and she was selected as a finalist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026.
