刺繍を生かして制作する中で、針と糸が女性の歴史や社会的背景に深く根付いている事に気づき、現代美術の中で新たな価値へと昇華する活動を続けています。
刺繍は単なる「手仕事」ではなく、過去と未来を繋ぐ大切な表現手段です。
テーマは「心のいたみやおそれ」。そこから解放される美しい造形を目指します。

In the process of making the full use of embroidery, Sakata has realized that the needle and thread are deeply rooted in women’s history and social backgrounds, and she continues to work to sublimate them into a new value in contemporary art.
Embroidery is not just a “handwork” but an important means of expression that connects the past and the future.
The theme is “heartache and fear. ” she seeks to create beautiful artworks that may free us from these fears.
