「あわいに立つ」
刺繍、漆、ガラス、絵画など、多様な素材を用いる作家をご紹介します。過去と未来、内と外、日常と非日常。そのどちらにも属しきらない「あわい」に立ちながら、作家たちは素材と向き合い、手を重ねてきました。揺らぎながらも確かな輪郭を宿す作品群。それぞれの表現が響き合う場をご高覧ください。

Art+Craft Gallery蚕室 は東京・西荻窪で2013年から美術・工芸とジャンルを問わず企画展示を開催しています。素材や技巧、表現に挑戦せざるを得ない作家の試みに注目し、そこから生まれる視点と思考を作品とともに紹介するべく活動しています。
日常に優れた美術・工芸作品を体験することは普遍的な価値や柔軟な思考を手に入れることだと考えます。次世代に向けて伝え残すべきものを作家とともに探求し提案してまいります。

About exhibited works
“Standing at the Boundary”
We are pleased to introduce artists who work with a diverse range of materials, including embroidery, lacquer, glass, and painting. Past and future, inside and outside, the ordinary and the extraordinary. Standing at the “boundary” where they belong to neither, these artists have engaged with their materials and applied their craftsmanship. Their works possess a sense of uncertainty while retaining distinct contours. We invite you to experience a space where these diverse expressions resonate with one another.
Gallery concept
Since 2013 Art+Craft Gallery San-Shitsu has held art/craft exhibitions irrespective of the genre in Nishiogikubo, Tokyo. Focusing on artists who cannot help but experiment on challenging materials, techniques or expressions, we operate to showcase their works of art together with their perspectives and thoughts born from such creative experiments.
We believe that daily experience in excellent art-/craftworks will lead us to both universal values and flexible thinking. Working with artists, we will explore and propose what to pass on to the next generation.
