Concept

I am jeweler and sculptor. I create jewelry from a sculptor’s point of view.
My creative process is unusual for jewelry making, in the sense that is not constrained by the conceptual historicism of formalism.
Although a sheet of metal might appear to lack expressive qualities, it’s a special material for me because its property enables a simultaneous pursuit of two sides. The complexities in the changing qualities of color, light and shadow on each side of the sheet makes metal an useful material which can create infinite expressions in how the faces are juxtaposed. Also, metal must endure the burden of oxidization, which is mysterious with bringing back to its original state.
Color is a subconscious choice for me. The materials and colors come about intuitively and are a medium in expressing existence in my work. They create an organic look though delicate light and shadow, inspiring complicated expressions.
