コンセプト

陶芸を始めたばかりのころ、私にとって焼成は焼き固めることでしかなかった様な気がします。焼成で形が変わることが許せなかったのです。
しかし、何年も土で形を作り、釉薬を施し火を通して制作を続けているうちに、そんな焼成の制約が、許せないことばかりでなく、魅力にも感じられるようになって来ました。
熊倉順吉の言葉である「土と炎によって生まれてくる焼き物の宿命的な姿」が解るようになってきました。

Concept

Clay had always been familiar to me since I was born and raised in a ceramic-producing region. I believe this is the reason why I choose to work with clay when a majored in sculpture.
Back then, I felt that firing was nothing more than a process to harden the clay and could not stand the clay changing form in the process. However, as I made forms from clay for many years, glazed them, and continued to fire them, I started to realize that these restrictions through firing became not only unforgivable, but also appealing. I have finally come to understand the words of Junkichi Kumakura's, "the fateful appearance of pottery is created by clay and flames."
