Living Forms, Dancing with Grace
KOGEI Art Gallery Ginza no Kanazawa presents four emerging artists whose works embody both suppleness and strength through their distinctive approaches to materials and techniques.
WANG Pin-I interprets the delicate physical structures of plants, insects, and marine organisms as manifestations of vital energy, transforming them into organic forms in clay. Yukiko Endo applies heat to glass that has outlived its everyday function, finding a quiet sense of life in the fractures, flows, and traces that emerge through this process. Anna Tokiwa draws upon the warm and subtle movements of emotion circulating through her memories and experiences. Through the soft, lustrous qualities of glass, she creates plants and living creatures imbued with a sense of narrative. Yuri Hayashi applies ryūmon-nuri, a flowing-pattern lacquer technique, to wooden panels through her own distinctive methods and sensibility, creating landscapes that evoke déjà vu—as though drawing submerged memories from the depths of the viewer’s consciousness.
