2020年、Victoria and Albert Museumにて開催された展覧会「KIMONO –Kyoto to Catwalk-」において「東京ひいながた」10点が収蔵・展示される。
I embarked on Yu-zen dyeing at Tokyo University of the Arts. Following my graduation, I dedicated two years to working as a Yu-zen dyeing artist at Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo. For the past six years, I have been creating my works in my studio in Kanagawa.
Yu-zen dyeing is a traditional Japanese technique that involves applying steamed rice paste to create masking on silk. This distinctive method allows for the manual application of rice paste without relying on stencils, making it unique in its approach.
One of my notable series, “Tokyo Hinagata,” focuses on the stations of the Yamanote Line which is the most important public transportation in Tokyo. This collection is housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum and was showcased at the “Kimono -Kyoto to Catwalk-” exhibition. The exhibition toured Sweden, France and Switzerland, and concluded in the UK in 2024.
