In Hanase, a mountain village in Kyoto, she grows a rare variety of “Asahi Mochi” rice herself, secures carefully selected straw materials, and handles the entire production process.
Based on the ancient Japanese straw craft techniques and forms learned from inside and outside of the region, she is expanding new possibilities of straw expression, aiming to create works that evoke the roots of the Japanese people, and that are close to the modern age through a multifaceted approach, including jewelry and art.
