1978年東京都生まれ
2007年に輪島へ移り、塗師・赤木 明登のもとで修行し2013年に独立する。
2014年より金沢在住
漆表現、または漆工芸を進めるうえで協同による創造行為を大切にし、杉田は黒という色彩を探求している。また、古来より伝わる造形を軸にして容れ物としての器の起源を遡り、新しい美を現代に表現します。
漆を塗るという行為、またその積み重ね、そして痕跡により獲得される触知的感覚を意識している。
Sugita Akihiko, born 1978 in Tokyo,
has moved to Wajima in 2007 and trained under Akito Akagi, a lacquer painter, before setting up his own business in 2013.
Lives and works in Kanazawa since 2014.
Sugita explores the color black, valuing the act of collaborative creation in the development of lacquer expression or lacquer craft. He also traces back the origins of vessels as containers based on ancient forms and expresses new beauty in the present day.
He is conscious of the tactile sensations acquired through the act of lacquering, as well as the accumulation and traces of this process.
