古来より「白」という色のもつ高貴・高潔・純粋なイメージは人々の憧れでした。いにしえの人々は美しい「月」の白さ、「雪」の白さ、「雲」の白さ、「花」の白さに思いを馳せ、やきものでもその思いを具現化し、様々な白いやきものがあらゆる地で作られて参りました。今回の展示では古美術から現代の作品まで時代を超えて人々に愛されてきた「しろいやきもの」をテーマに展示致します。
ギャラリーコンセプト
芸術の中でも陶芸には使える楽しみがあります。花を生け、料理を盛り付け、お酒をいただき、お茶を一服する。そうしたすべてに器に本当に良いものだけを使っていただきたいと、私どもは願っております。
しぶや黒田陶苑ではこれまでの経験を活かし、美を追求しながら、近現代の巨匠陶芸家の逸品を厳しい眼で選び皆様にご紹介して参ります。そしてまた同時に、現代に生きる陶芸家たちにより良い作品を作って貰えるよう、皆様と対話をしながら美術商の本道を彼らと邁進して行きたいと思います。

About exhibited works
Since ancient times, the color white has been admired as a symbol of nobility, purity and grace. People deeply cherished the beauty of whiteness of the moon, snow, clouds, and flowers, and sought to capture that beauty in ceramics.
Across different regions and throughout history, countless forms of white ceramics have been created in response to this enduring aspiration.
This exhibition presents "White Pottery", bringing together works ranging from antique masterpieces to contemporary creations that have captivated people across the ages.
Gallery concept
“Beautiful, yet Meant to Be Used” This guiding principle of Shibuya Kuroda Toen stands apart from the concept of “Yo-no-bi, Beauty of Everyday Thing” It does not simply refer to ease of use, but rather to objects that are beautiful and, at the same time, inspire a desire to use them. We believe that incorporating beautiful objects into daily life enriches the heart and spirit. While curating masterpieces by modern ceramic artists with a discerning eye, we also walk alongside contemporary artists, fostering an environment where outstanding works can continue to be created. This, we believe, is our true mission.
