About exhibited works

Under the theme of “Crafts and Painting in Dialogue,” we present a collaborative exhibition featuring the following pairs: ceramic artist Michiko Sago and painter Motoi Yamamoto; metalworker Tatsushi Mizushiro and Japanese-style painter Mariko Sanao; and ceramic artist Mitsuho Tsuri and painter Rikuji Makabe. All six artists, who create their work in Kanazawa, seem to be influenced by the aesthetic sensibility inherent to this region, transcending the boundaries of craft and painting. Through the convergence of techniques—such as the stenciling method in dyeing and the use of gold leaf—and materials, as well as the alignment of worldviews and themes, this exhibition presents a crossover where craft and painting artists engage with one another.

Gallery concept

Our gallery features high originality, and holds exhibitions of universal artists with ontemporary tastes. “Ponte” means “bridge”, and like bridges, we believe that art also connects remote and different lands, acting as a bridge to substance and spirit. Where to could this “ponte communicate the work we encounter here? We cross bridges in order to find the answer, and aim to become a bridge connecting both sides.
