ARTIST INFORMATION
1953年大阪生まれの栩山孝は、1979年に嵯峨美術短期大学版画科を卒業。
1996年には伊丹市芸術家協会新人賞を受賞など、多くのコンクールで受賞を重ねる。デンマークでアーティストとしてのレジデンスを経験。以降、鉄錆を 使った版画やミクストメディアを発表。今回出品の香炉の落ち着いた色合いは、錆びた鉄材で作られ、まるで枯れた樹木のようにも見え、時と共に風化した趣を感じられる。栩山ならではの奥深さは、作品テーマである「時間の積み重なり、時間と時間の間の空間」を作品の中に見ることで、より鮮明になってくる。
Born in Osaka in 1953, Takashi Utsuyama graduated from the Printmaking Department of Saga Art College in 1979.
He has won numerous awards in competitions, including the Itami City Artists Association Newcomer Award in 1996. He experienced an artist residency in Denmark, and has since produced prints and mixed media using iron rust. The calm color of the incense burner on display this time is made from rusted iron, and looks almost like a dead tree, with a charm that has weathered over time. The unique depth of Utsuyama’s work becomes even clearer when one sees the theme of his work, “the accumulation of time, and the space between time,” in it.
