- 丸太の反っている形の中に、子どもの立ち姿が見えたことから、子ども、主に女の子を掘る様になりました。そこに風が吹いている様な、誰かを待っている様な情景を落とし込んで制作しています。手のない姿は言いたくても言えない心情を表しています。 果物の作品では、果物が「実る」と恋が「実る」で同じ言葉を使うことから、恋に焦がれる乙女の心情を果物に閉じ込めて制作しています。

- Inspired by an apprarent vision of a child standing in a log, Sekiguchi began to carve motifs of children, mainly girls. Her sculptures incorporate scenes of the wind blowing or waiting for someone to come. The figure without hands expresses the feeling of wanting to say something but not able to. In the fruit work, I capture the feelings of a girl in love in the fruit, as it is a play on the Japanese words “Kajitsu ga minoru (ripening of a fruit)” and “Koi ga minoru (completion of love)”.
