出品作品について
日本が長年培い継承してきた伝統を踏まえ新しい概念を持って挑戦する写真家、堀江美佳の作品を出展致します。
雁皮(がんぴ)という植物を和紙の原料に日本の美しさを表現する作品を生み出します。手作りの紙は古代から変わらない技法で生み出され、最後に太陽光で露光するサイアノタイプで写真を青一色で印刷。いつの世も生命の源で在り続ける青を軸に、目の前にある自然素材、時間の流れ、自然、そして自由を感じていただければ幸いです。
ギャラリーコンセプト
艸居は、若手から著名な作家まで国内外70人以上の作家を取り扱い、工芸素材や日常の生活の中に存在する繊細な感覚から影響を受けた現代陶芸、漆、絵画、写真、ドローイング、テキスタイル作品などを紹介しております。2018 年には現代美術にフォーカスした Atsumi Project を設立しました。美術館など密接に連携して展覧会の開催、美術館への収蔵、パブリックアートの活動をしております。

About exhibited works
We are pleased to represent works by Mika Horie, a photographer who challenges with new concepts growing out of traditions that Japan has inherited and cultivated for many years. She creates works that express the beauty of Japan using Gampi fibers as the raw material for her Japanese paper. The handmade paper is produced using techniques that have not changed since ancient times. She then prints the images in blue by exposing the surfaces to sunlight, this technique is called Cyanotype. We hope that you will find in the natural materials and blue colors, the flow of time and nature and feel a sense of freedom from her works.
Gallery concept
Sokyo Gallery represents over 70 domestic and international artists, both young and established, and presents contemporary ceramics, lacquer, paintings, photography, drawings, and textile works influenced by craft materials and the subtle sensibilities present in everyday life. In 2018, Atsumi Project was established to focus on contemporary art. We work closely with museums to organize exhibitions, museum collections, and public art.
