MITSUKOSHI

Founded in the heart of Tokyo, Nihombashi in 1907, Mitsukoshi Fine Arts is the Japan’s first and leading art gallery/dealer presenting modern and contemporary fine art.
Encouraging artsits and collectors to build a vibrant relationship, Mitsukoshi Fine Arts dedicates to provide an insprirational "Life with Art"

About exhibited works

Featuring five KOGEI artists, Yukiya Izumita, Kohei Nakamura, Kayoko Mizumoto, Takashi Wakamiya, and Akira Wada. Izumita molds layers of clay repeatedly. Nakamura creates Cha-wan, Japanese traditional tea bowl, with the taste of the great tea master in Japan. Mizumoto's work distil the imageny of pop culture into classical Kutani ware. Wakamiya expanses a new stage of Makie ( urushi ware decoration method of drawing a design with liquid urushi, over which filings are sprinkled while the urushi is still moist ) while leading the artists group “Hikojyu-Makie” who juherits skills of traditional design. Wada carves white porcelain sculpture out of a knife to fabricate complex structure with lines and curves.
