Naoki Sakai

Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1973.In 2003,Sakai completed the doctoral course in metal hammering at Tokyo University of the Arts and obtained a PhD.
From 2003 to 2005,he worked as a guest lecturer at the same university and, from 2005 to 2008, trained at Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo(Craft Workshop).
From 2010 to 2012,he worked as a lecturer at the Kanazawa University and, from 2011 to 2012 , Kanazawa College of Art.
From 2013 to 2018, Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo(Craft Workshop)studio coordinator. Sakai currently lives and works in Kanazawa.

Working under the theme, ”bringing metal into everyday life,” he creates items that harmonize with contemporary spaces.
