Gallery ILSANG

Gallery Ilsang was founded in 2013 and it is located in Dohwa-dong, Mapo District in Seoul. It is a contemporary craft gallery within an urban space, small but unique immersed naturally in its environment.
Here we preserve the positive aspects of traditional craft values adding contemporary sensitivity developing forward in collaboration with artists through different artists.
Since it was first founded, the gallery has organized exhibitions with leading craft artists. Also the gallery has contributed in developing the Korean craft field by discovering new talents, young artists are experimental. Artists who have worked with the gallery have been actively promoted both in Korea and outside of the country. The objective of the gallery is to promote artists through international venues such as fairs and exhibitions in order to establish exchanges and networks. Based on the exhibitions educational programs are operated and they contribute to the development of the district. The gallery hopes to continue discovering new talents, particularly those who quietly work in the field. The word “Ilsang” in Korean means “daily life” therefore the gallery endeavors to coexist with art and daily life.

About exhibited works

Our space will consist of 5 artists. Soonran Youn visualizes the insights into our lives through the theme 'Breathing hole'. Younghye Kim presents the three-dimensional drawing with 'body and clothes'. Minseok Han will show handmade wall clock 'Bamboo' by his signature technique. Youngae Choo presents her two dimensional artworks by using old clothes and applique called 'Linked Space'. Lastly, Hwajin Oh will show gorgeous clutch bag.
We will show about 15artworks(3works per artist).
Through these five Korean crafts and their two-three dimensional works, one can see the evolution of Korean textile and metal craft.
